Your reading list.
Your calendar.

Margin turns articles you save into individual Google Calendar reading appointments. This policy describes what the extension accesses, stores, and sends.

Data on your device

Margin stores article titles, full links, reading estimates, optional notes, bookmark IDs, scheduling preferences, calendar IDs and names, event IDs, event links, appointment times, and reading status in Chrome’s local extension storage. This data is not synced by Margin to a developer server. Your browser or device administrator may have its own backup policies.

Bookmarks and article text

Margin reads bookmark folders so you can choose a reading folder, and reacts to new bookmarks and articles moved into that folder. It does not import your existing bookmarks. When you explicitly save the current article or use the page context menu, it may read visible page text to count words. The text itself is not saved or sent to Google; the word count and estimated reading duration are stored locally. Automatic bookmarks use a default estimate when page access is unavailable.

Google Calendar

When you connect Google, Chrome manages your OAuth authorization. Margin uses the token to call Google Calendar directly over HTTPS. It reads calendar names and access roles, checks busy intervals on selected calendars, and creates reading appointments. Google receives the article title, full link, duration, optional note, reminder preference, and appointment times. Shared calendars may make this information visible to people with access to that calendar.

Margin reads appointment details to recognize changes or deletion, moves its appointments when you reschedule, and removes them when you choose Skip or Undo. It does not intentionally edit unrelated appointments. Google processes API requests under its own privacy policies.

No advertising or analytics

Margin has no developer backend, ads, analytics, tracking pixels, or remote executable code. The developer does not collect, sell, or receive your reading or calendar data through the extension. Margin does not use your data to train AI models.

Your controls

You can pause scheduling, disconnect Google, export your reading list, or clear local article records in Preferences. Clearing pauses scheduling and keeps bookmarks and Calendar events. Disconnecting stops future Calendar requests and clears Chrome’s cached authorization tokens for Margin; it keeps existing appointments. You can separately revoke Margin’s access in your Google Account’s third-party access settings. Uninstalling removes extension storage; bookmarks and existing Calendar events remain and can be removed in their respective apps.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
